For sale is a very fine coin silver three-piece tea set with Chinoiserie decoration by Francis W. Cooper of New York City, circa 1846. The teapot has a hinged lid and is 8 5/8 inches tall by 9 1/2 inches wide from spout to handle. The creamer is 5 5/8 inches wide over the handle by 6 1/8 inches tall at the lip, and the lidded sugar bowl is 5 3/4 inches wide by 7 1/4 inches tall.Together they weigh 2014 grams. The pieces have a pagoda form, with flared curved bases and paneled bodies. The panels are beautifully engraved with Oriental scenes, flowers and scrolls. The teapot and sugar bowl have fixed finials. The piece all stand on four scroll feet.
The pieces are all monogrammed MP on one side. The pieces are all marked F.
The teapot and sugar bowl are also marked N. Condition on the set is very good. There are just a few minor dings, and they sit well with just very minor rocking. The interiors are reasonably clean.
