The British decimal two pence (2p) coin often informallypronounced two pee is a unit of currency equalling 2/100ths of a poundsterling. Its obverse has featured the profile of Queen Elizabeth II since thecoin's introduction on 15 February 1971, the year British currency wasdecimalised.  Four different portraits of the Queen have been used on thecoin, with the latest design by Jody Clark being introduced in 2015. The secondand current reverse, featuring a segment of the Royal Shield, was introduced in2008.

However, a small numberof 1983 "New Pence" coins exist. These coins are rather rare, and areconsidered collectors' items. It was originally planned that an alternative versionof the 2p would be minted with a design representing Northern Ireland. These plans never came to fruition, however.
